Why get involved?

  • Become a Neighborhood  Watch Captain or                                         Co-captain
  • To get to know your neighbors
  • To manage a list of participating neighbors and their contact information.
  • To increase safety for yourself, your family, and property.
  • To help reduce crime and to learn crime reduction skills.
  • To inform participants of crime alerts.
  • To help address neighborhood problems which concern you. To learn how to make reports to your law enforcement agency.
  • To help organize, with neighbors, a National Night Out gathering, and optional meetings.

Find a neighbor to do this with and have fun. It is an excellent way to get to know more of your neighbors and reduce crime.

ALLEY and STREET ETIQUETTE
All paper food-stuffs and cardboard waste can go into your green trash can. It is recycled into mulch. Please break down or cut up the cardboard to fit in the can so no boxes are left in the alley.
BRUSH AND TREE LIMBS
With a pair of pruning shears and loppers most waste can be cut up into small pieces and put in the green can. If not, place material 2’ away from the fence or at the curb for City pick-up.
BROKEN TRASH CANS/LIDS
If a trash can lid is broken or missing and/or can is broken, call Bertolotti at 537-8000 for replacement. Otherwise they will never know about it.
BULK ITEMS
Bertolotti will pick up bulk items (furniture-mattresses-appliances) twice yearly at no charge. An appointment needs to be made with them. Please do not put the item(s) out until the day before pick-up.
WEEDS,GRASS, PLANTS OR TREES
growing in the alley should be cut back when reaching a height of 8” or more. This will enhance the looks and health of the alleys.
GO MODESTO  App can be downloaded from the app store for your phone where you can post neighborhood issues with the City on-line. You will be assigned a case #. Usually response is fast for legitimate issues such as trees, potholes, etc.
